OzBow
OzBow is an instructional program for novice archers designed to teach the basic skills and improve shooting technique. The aim of OzBow is to develop safe, competent club archers with the confidence to participate in club events and competitions.
There is no cost to participate in OzBow but you must be a member of Tuggeranong Archery Club to participate in the program.
OzBow is run by club volunteers and operates every Sunday morning at the club. Simply turn up and join in.
OzBow participants progress from the Beginner targets (10m) to the OzBow targets at 20m, 30m and 40m. Particpants shoot special rounds with the aim of achieving OzBow certifications by shooting a minimum standard score at each distance. This may take place over a number of weeks. During the OzBow program, participants are taught:
- Equipment setup and maintenance;
- How to employ the ‘Ten Basic Steps’;
- How to score correctly;
- How to remove arrows properly and safely;
- How to move out and back from the targets safely; and
- General archery etiquette.
Upon successfully achieving the minimum standard score at each of the three distances, the participant is presented with an OzBow Certificate.
OzBow at TAC also runs occasional ‘Introduction to Field Archery’ and ‘Introduction to Clout Archery’ rounds as well to introduce novice archers to the skills and enjoyment of field and Clout archery and the TAC Field Range and Clout Range.
