Bhutanese Range
TAC is proud to support the ACT Bhutanese Community by providing two dedicated Bhutanese archery ranges. Archery was declared the Bhutanese national sport in 1971 having a long and rich history dating back hundreds of years.
Bhutanese archery is a distinctive style of archery and most archers now use modern compound bows in the barebow style. Each range has two targets, one at each end of the range spaced 145m apart. Ends are shot in one direction and then the other direction consecutively.
Bhutanese archery is a colourful and noisy affair. Participation is both social and competitive with singing, dancing, celebrations sledging of opponents. Participants can often be seen in national dress for major events, which also include feasting and celebrations.
The Bhutanese Archers at TAC welcome visitors to view their range and the distinctive flavour of Bhutanese Archery and try your skills at their unique style of archery.
