Outdoor Target Ranges

Tuggeranong Archery Club offers two outdoor target ranges:

  • Main Range up to 90m for experienced archers; and
  • Beginners range for new archers and OzBow participants.

Members may also use the Beginners range for bow tuning, technique adjustment and the like. Both the Main and Beginner's ranges have rain/shade shelters for the comfortable shooting in all seasons.

Beginners Range

 Beginners Range

 The beginner's range consists of:

  • Ten target butts at 10m (Yellow)
  • Two target butts at 5m (White)
  • Two target butts at 20m (Red)
  • Two target butts at 30m (Blue)
  • Two target butts at 40m (Black)

The Yellow butts are used predominantly for Come'n'Try Sessions whereas the Red, Blue and Black butts cater for OzBow participants seeking accreditation at the various distances. The white butts are mainly used for tuning and technique.

 Main Range

Main RangeThe main range is adjacent to the Multi-use Facility and caters for all distances up to 90m. Target butts on the main range are movable and distances are marked along the fence as well as with white painted bricks set into the grass at 10m intervals.

The main range is floodlit so that archers may shoot in the evening hours and the club can conduct twilight shoots to maximise the availabity of the facility.

Various depths of target butts are used to cater for different bow weights. Compound shooters use the deeper butts closer to the fence and traditional archers, including the Society for Creative Anachronism, use the shallower butts furthest from the fence.
